Cuban Government decrees official mourning for Eusebio Leal

A day of official mourning was decreed in Cuba on Saturday as a tribute to eminent intellectual and Havana Historian Eusebio Leal, who died on Friday at the age of 77.
The Presidency of the Republic issued an official press release in which it decreed 24 hours of official mourning, from 00:00 hours to 11:59 hours on Saturday, August 1.

During the official mourning, the national flag will be hoisted at half-mast in public buildings and military institutions, the communiqué says.

The funeral of the prominent intellectual will be held at the National Capitol once the Covid-19 pandemic is controlled.

According to the wish of Leal’s family, his ashes will be preserved so that the Cuban people can pay him deserved tribute for his invaluable work in favor of the rescue, conservation and promotion of Havana’s and the nation’s historic values.
