Cuba: Resistance, Resilience and Revolution – Challenges, past & present

Cuba Support Group Ireland are delighted to announce two days of activity in Derry . Dr. Helen Yaffe, author and Cuba solidarity activist, will be speaking at the Irish launch of her recent book ‘We Are Cuba! How a revolutionary people have survived in a post-Soviet world’. Dr. Yaffe will take questions from the public on her book which covers the various struggles and challenges faced by the Cuban revolution over the past 60-odd years.

Beginning on Friday, September 2nd

7pm Helen Yaffe will speak at a book launch about her recent book, ‘We Are Cuba! How a revolutionary people have survived in a post-Soviet world’. This will take place at The Hive Studio, Ráthmór Centre, Creggan.

Saturday, September 3rd

10.30 am-12 pm There will be a history walk around the walls of Derry for #WalkingForCuba, assembling at Free Derry Corner.

12.30 After the walk there will be a tour of Creggan Community Collective and community gardens with a chance to exchange ideas with local community activists.

3 pm Film screening of ‘Cuba’s Life Task’ followed by Q&A, at The Hive Studio, Ráthmór Centre, Derry. This will be attended by Thomas Pringle TD, coordinator of the Dáil Cross-party Committee on Cuba and long-term champion of Cubansovernighty and local Independent Republican councillor, Gary Donnelly.

Admission to all events is free. The Hive Studios is a wheelchair friendly venue. All interested in the story of Cuba are welcome.
