Cuban doctors return from Andorra with duty accomplished

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, recognized this Wednesday the work of the Cuban health professionals who helped the Principality of Andorra fight the Covid-19, and return with their duties fulfilled.
The foreign minister said on Twitter that since the favorable evolution of the Covid-19 in that European territory, 13 health specialists are returning home.

The rest of the members of the brigade (26) – belonging to the Henry Reeve contingent, which specializes in disaster situations and serious epidemics – will continue to provide services and save lives in that State, at the request of its authorities.

Recently, during the farewell ceremony for the returning aid workers, the Andorran Ministers of Foreign Affairs, María Ubach, and of Health, Joan Martínez, respectively, reaffirmed their gratitude to Cuba for its help in the face of the pandemic.

For his part, the health minister recalled that when the Cuban doctors arrived in Andorra, the incidence of SARS-Cov-2 was very high, and that the work of the Cubans had a favourable impact on the decrease of lethality.

He stressed that the Cuban doctors effectively strengthened the Principality’s health system and prevented its collapse, and that the experiences of working together are something that will remain as a positive balance of this emergency situation.
