Cuba rejects proliferation of nuclear tests

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez rejected on Saturday, on the International Day against Nuclear Tests, the proliferation of such actions and the increase in funds for their development.
On his Twitter account, the foreign minister condemned the increase in ‘subcritical’ tests, a modality used to obtain information on atomic weapons.

Similarly, the head of Cuban diplomacy said to be alarmed due to US statements about ‘resuming explosive nuclear testing, as well as the withdrawal from disarmament and arms control agreements.’

The United States has been so far the only state in the world that has used nuclear bombs twice and is a world leader in conducting this kind of tests, Cuba’s alternate permanent representative at the United Nations, Ana Silvia Rodriguez, denounced this week.

The diplomat pointed out that after investing in that field, Washington has violated the spirit and letter of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, the Non-Proliferation Treaty, and has not complied with other international agreements, such as the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with Iran.
