Cuba identifies participants in frustrated armed infiltration for terrorist purposes in Villa Clara

In the morning hours of this February 25, 2026, an offending speedboat was detected within Cuban territorial waters with the license plate of Florida, United States, with folio FL7726SH, which it approached about 1 nautical mile northeast of the El Pino canal, in Cayo Falcones, Corralillo municipality, Villa Clara province.

As a surface unit of the Border Guard Troops of the Ministry of the Interior approaches, with five combatants, for identification, fire was opened from the offending boat against the Cuban troops, causing the commander of the Cuban boat to be injured.  

As a consequence of the confrontation, until the closure of this information, by the foreign party, four attackers were killed and six injured, who were evacuated and received medical assistance.

Faced with current challenges, Cuba ratifies its will to protect territorial waters, based on the fact that national defense is a fundamental pillar for the Cuban State in favor of the protection of its sovereignty and stability in the region.

As continuity of the investigative process regarding the armed aggression against a surface unit of the Border Guard Troops of the Ministry of the Interior, in the northeastern area of the El Pino canal, in Cayo Falcones, Corralillo municipality, Villa Clara province, it is expanded:

– It has been established that the speedboat was neutralized, with Florida registration FL7726SH, transported 10 armed people, who according to preliminary statements by the detainees, intended to carry out infiltration for terrorist purposes.

Assault rifles, short weapons, artisanal explosive devices (Molotov cocktails), bulletproof vests, telescopic sights and camouflage uniforms were seized.

– Among the detained participants, according to preliminary interrogations, they identified:

1- Amijail Sánchez González.

2- Leordan Enrique Cruz Gómez.

3- Conrado Galindo Sariol.

4- José Manuel Rodríguez Castelló.

5- Cristian Ernesto Acosta Guevara.

6- Roberto Azcorra Consuegra.

Michel Ortega Casanova was identified among the deceased. Work is being done to identify the other 3.

All participants are Cubans residing in the United States. Most of them with a known history of criminal and violent activity, including Amijail Sánchez González and Leordan Enrique Cruz Gómez that appear on the National List of people and entities that, by virtue of Resolution 1373 of the United Nations Security Council, international law and the Cuban legal system, have been subjected to criminal investigations and are wanted by the Cuban authorities, to based on their involvement in promotion, planning, organization, financing, support or commission of actions carried out in the national territory or in other countries, based on acts of terrorism.

In addition, the citizen was arrested in the national territory Duniel Hernandez Santos, sent from the USA to guarantee the reception of armed infiltration, who is currently confessed to his actions.

The investigation process continues until the facts are fully clarified.
