‘All spies are not James Bond’

The award winning documentary Castro’s Spies, the story of five Cuban intelligent agents sent to the United States to prevent acts of terrorism, will have its North American release on Friday, May 13, from Gravitas Ventures.

The Cuban Five garnered international attention following their unjust imprisonment in the United States for their efforts to prevent violent anti-revolutionary groups in Florida from conducting terrorist acts against the island. The five agents were eventually released, the last three set free during the thaw in relations under the Obama administration in 2014.

The documentary is now available on pre-order from Apple TV and itunes at this link — https://apple.co/3JTuZYI

From their recruitment, training and eventual capture on US soil this film peers into a secret world of false identities, love affairs and betrayal. Using never seen before footage from the Cuban Film Institute’s archive and first-hand testimony from the people at the heart of this story, Castro’s Spies gives a rare glimpse into the shadowy world of a spy – where the stakes are life and death.

Winner of the best international documentary at the Melbourne Film Festival,  Castro’s Spies has been the official selection at more than a dozen festivals, including Cork Film Festival, Glasgow Film Festival, Doc Edge New Zealand, Doc Lisboa Portugal, Prague International Film Festival and Inverness International Film Festival Scotland.
