{"id":3844,"date":"2021-03-02T22:28:20","date_gmt":"2021-03-02T22:28:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cubasupport.ie\/latest\/?p=3844"},"modified":"2021-03-02T22:28:25","modified_gmt":"2021-03-02T22:28:25","slug":"cuba-has-assisted-almost-one-third-of-the-worlds-population-in-health-care","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cubasupport.ie\/latest\/cuba-has-assisted-almost-one-third-of-the-worlds-population-in-health-care\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba has assisted almost one third of the world&#8217;s population in health care"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"747\" height=\"418\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cubasupport.ie\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/MEDICOS.jpg?resize=747%2C418&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3845\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cubasupport.ie\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/MEDICOS.jpg?w=800&amp;ssl=1 800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cubasupport.ie\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/MEDICOS.jpg?resize=300%2C168&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.cubasupport.ie\/latest\/wp-content\/uploads\/MEDICOS.jpg?resize=768%2C430&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 747px) 100vw, 747px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the six decades of Cuban medical collaboration abroad, its health personnel have assisted 1.988 billion people in the world, almost a third of mankind, said Dr. Jorge Delgado Bustillo, director of the Central Unit for Medical Cooperation (UCCM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Delgado Bustillo also assured that Cuban doctors have performed more than 14,500,000 surgical operations, 4,470,000 deliveries and have saved 8,700,000 lives, results that increase the prestige of Cuban medicine in the international arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, when the COVID-19 pandemic causes the death of thousands of people every day, more than 30,407 Cuban health professionals are in 66 nations, distributed in permanent medical brigades and the Henry Reeve Contingent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He pointed out that at the request of governments, this force arrived for the first time in Europe, in the Italian region of Lombardy and the city of Turin;
