Haiti, Cuba.- The Haitian Government thanked Cuba on Wednesday for \nits assistance to fight the pandemic of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, after \neight Covid-19 cases were diagnosed in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Haitian Health Minister Marie Greta Roy Clement lauded the solidarity\n of the Cuban Government and people, who once again is expressed against\n Covid-19, and asked to convey those sentiments of \u2018deep gratitude\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She recalled the \u2018traditional solidarity\u2019 and strong ties of \nfriendship between Cuba and Haiti, which were strengthened during the \ncholera outbreak that killed 10,000 people, and later after Hurricane \nMatthew hit the country in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister pointed out that the Cuban experts provide their \nexperience to improve the national health situation, and their \ncontribution is fundamental in a country with a limited number of \nmedical professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday, the Henry Reeve Brigade that will support Haitian \nphysicians to fight Covid-19 was awarded its flag at the Cuban Embassy \nin Haiti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So far, Haiti has reported eight positive Covid-19 cases, while some 150 people are in institutional or residential quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
